Recently, I've been branching out on the interwebz and joined a few places where I can chitty-chat and interact with other book readers outside of the blog world. Most of these places you request to be friends or followers to each other. Currently, I've been utilizing Goodreads and Twitter with the most frequency, just getting to know how Book Blogs works. I've been on LibraryThing for awhile but mostly using it to track books and not much else.
So, I was wondering where do you hang out to talk about books? I'm interested in seeing where everyone goes on the interwebz to talk about books in addition to blogs. If you know of other places, please let me know. I'm always willing to try something new. *wiggles eyebrows*
I have listed the places I have joined, if you frequent any of the places listed below, let's hookup!
- Goodreads: http://www.goodreads.com/fantasydreamer
- Twitter: http://twitter.com/FantasyDreamer
- Book Blogs: http://bookblogs.ning.com/profile/FantasyDreamer
- LibraryThing: http://www.librarything.com/profile/FantasyDreamer

I am on Twitter. I have a goodreads account but have been neglecting it recently. I don't know why.
I belong to JR Ward's message boards and talk about books there all the time. I probably talk more on there about other books than hers..LOL.
@Mandi Twitter is fun isn't it? Quick chit-chats and lots of instant information. The thing I like about Goodreads you can mark quick thoughts about the books you read 'cuz most do not write a review for every book they read. I need to check the JR's message board, I might on it, not sure.
Yep yep, twitter is the place. Otherwise it's me and my best friend IMing back and forth. I used to spend some more time on some message boards but finding Twitter to be my favorite right now. But you know that since.. I came here from your tweet!
@Janicu Love playing on Twitter. I found other blogs through it also. One of the best discovery tools. :)

Woo-hoo!! It works again! :)
I have Twitter, but I'm rarely ever on there. I announce contests on there and that's about it.
My blog, goodreads and Book Blogs @ Ning is where I do most of my chatting about books.
@Chris Thanks for the heads up!!!
@Anna I found Book Blogs on your blog, the Book Blogs button. I owe you a thank you! :)
Hey Donna...
I suppose it's the time that you have.. you can probably find tons of yahoo group, twitterettes and Goodreader's to chat with...
I make most of my chatting buddies on my blog and we move off post and use IM account and just keep the flow going....
I don't use twitter other than feed my updates, every now and then I respond to something - but that's very rare...
Goodread - i use a lot, all my reviews goes on that and I am involve with some of the group and the friends I make there as well - we do try the IM thing as well... and it works...
I would recommend yahoo groups - to get a decent chatter going, they are fun and you get a heads up on most of the upcoming books and events...

@EH I agree with you time is the deciding factor. I haven't used IM in a great while but even on Twitter I see people tweeting about it so it must be in great use still.
Thanks for the heads up on the Yahoo groups, I have joined a few and should monitor them a little more closely.
I mostly just utilize blogging. I've signed up with other things, but always forget about them, like Book Blogs.
I also sit in Tim Horton's with my mom and talk books once a week :)!
@Amy C LOL! I do that to, sign up for stuff and forget about them, at least until I get an email reminder or something. Sometimes I forget about the emails too! I think it's terrific you and your mother can read and talk about books together - also nice you have somewhere to go to discuss with others!
I no longer have accounts at the virtual sites. Mostly it's through blogs and Twitter. I love book chatting on Twitter!
@J. Kaye I love chatting on Twitter too! But I am also liking Goodreads, I like how it tweets the books you add to your to-read, what your reading and when you finish & rate it.
I think you've got me -- Twitter, Goodreads, and LibraryThing, among others. I'm all over the place... it's really a lot to keep up with.
@Susan - It is a lot to keep up with, sometimes overwhelming. Right now, I think blogging, Twitter & Goodreads are enough to keep up with. Still trying out Book Blogs & LibraryThing, see where they lead...
Like a lot of people here I'm on Twitter. And of course I own a goodreads account. But mostly I talk about books on blogs. I follow a bagful blogs which I try to handle with google reader.
