Thanks to Tor Books and John Brown, I have two copies of Servant of a Dark God for a give away. Also, I had a fun interview with John here, hop over and check it out if you hadn't already.
Read the first eight chapters of Servant of a Dark God.
The launch of a towering new fantasy series introduces an elaborate new world, a strange and dark system of magic, and a cast of compelling characters and monsters. Young Talen lives in a world where the days of a person’s life can be harvested, bought, and stolen. Only the great Divines, who rule every land, and the human soul-eaters, dark ones who steal from man and beast and become twisted by their polluted draws, know the secrets of this power. This land’s Divine has gone missing and soul-eaters are found among Talen’s people.
The Clans muster a massive hunt, and Talen finds himself a target. Thinking his struggle is against both soul-eaters and their hunters, Talen actually has far larger problems. A being of awesome power has arisen, one whose diet consists of the days of man. Her Mothers once ranched human subjects like cattle. She has emerged to take back what is rightfully hers. Trapped in a web of lies and ancient secrets, Talen must struggle to identify his true enemy before the Mother finds the one whom she will transform into the lord of the human harvest.

No need to enter me (I wonder when, if I ever, I will be ready to read non-urban fantasy again?), but I will certainly mention this in my post Wednesday!
No need to enter me, either, babe. I'm dropping in to say thanks for the e-mail. I've got this posted on Win a Book for you.
My favorite fantasy characters are Jehane in GGK's The Lions of Al-Rassan; she's a doctor and we like the same kind of men.
I also like Kristin Cashore's Fire
Hi :)
Thank you for the opportunity to win.
My favorite Fantasy character is a tie between Rand al'Thor and Aragorn.

Wow, it's hard to pick just one favorite character. But I think right now I'll go with Greyfrog from House of Chains by Steven Erickson. Pretty minor character, but I hope to see more of him.

favourite fantasy character:
Odile from Mercedes Lackey's Black Swan, she's a very strong and competent heroine, with a great sense of responsibility and sympathy despite how she was brought up

Favorite character - so difficult so many good ones - I have to say Coltaine from Eriksons Deadhouse Gates...
I love the cover on this one!
Samwise Gamgee
Count me in for this book. It sounds GREAT! I think one of my favorite gantasy characters is Jimmy the Hand from Raymond Feists series. He was a common thief that was better at his job than others, but grew to be the one to advise the King.

This looks fun - the cover artwork look similar to one of the covers for Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson that I have seen.
I would say my favorite fantasy character would be Sazed from the mentioned above book.
Thanks Donna

This book sounds great. I don't know how I missed this post before.
My favorite fantasy character, that's kind of an easy one...Daemon Sadi from the Black Jewels Trilogy. And then his brother, Lucivar Yoslana.
I'd have to say Sam Gangee from LOTR. Love him!

Gandalf from the Fellowship of the Ring. As troped as he's become, he's still the best guide in fantasy.

Favorite character:
His followers called him Mahasamatman and said he was a god. He preferred to drop the Maha- and the -atman, however, and called himself Sam. He never claimed to be a god. But then, he never claimed not to be a god. Circumstances being what they were, neither admission could be of any benefit. Silence, though, could....copied from Roger Zelazny's Lord of Light.
My favourite fantasy character was Shadow from "American Gods".
Thanks,

I am going to have to say Dolph in Piers Anthony's Xanth series.
