The Poison Eaters and Other Stories by Holly Black
Short Stories
YA Fantasy

Summary:

In her debut collection, New York Times best-selling author Holly Black returns to the world of Tithe in two darkly exquisite new tales. Then Black takes readers on a tour of a faerie market and introduces a girl poisonous to the touch and another who challenges the devil to a competitive eating match. These stories have been published in anthologies such as 21 Proms, The Faery Reel, and The Restless Dead, and have been reprinted in many “Best of” anthologies. The Poison Eaters is Holly Black’s much-anticipated first collection of stories, and her ability to stare into the void—and to find humanity and humor there—will speak to young adult and adult readers alike.

Chris - I've added your new giveaway to this post & my sidebar.

I wish there was a book store near me that didn't take 30 minutes to get to. Can you tell I'm a spoiled small town girl, who's use to everything being within 10 minutes of her? ;)

Cecile - You're welcome! I hope you have a great day too. :)

Chris said...

Thanks, Donna!

I know I'm completely spoiled by where I live, and I definitely appreciate it!

OMG, I was reading that Anita Blake description and I had this weird shocked, excited thought that it was heading to where Anita would fall in love with Bennington, a normal human, and their love would cure her of all the weirdness, and monstery stuff, sort of like in a normal romance, where the person is tortured in some way, and the love of the right person makes them whole. (and vice versa). I think I would just be so impressed if that happened.

Wow, it looks like there are some great books here. I'm particularly curious about steamed, as well as the new Anita Blake novel which I heard is similar to early stuff, and so I might just give it a try.

I just bought AK by Nalini Singh, hubs b-day just happened to fall on this day ::sigh:: totally cuts into my reading time *grrrr*

Is Jeanine Frost's First Drop Of Crimson out today as well? Or later on in Feb?

Donna said...

Chris - I love the places you have around you. Seems there's a lot to do there. :)

Carolyn - I haven't read not one Anita Blake book. I know that's bad, real bad. Hopefully soon. I was advise to read books 1-4, skip the rest and go directly to Skin Trade.

VFG - I right there with you! I'm so excited about Steamed. :)

Blodeuedd - Same here! I went ahead and bought it because of all the 5 star reviews. It sounds terrific.

Chris said...

Oh, no, things don't get bad in Anita land until Blue Moon...

Donna said...

Leontine - Yes! I know the feeling. I feel that away about a few books. You have to get the setting right in reading den. :)

Simcha - Steamed is one I have bought, I hope to read it this month. I also heard the same thing about the Anita Blake novels.

KC - Oh, tell your hubs Happy Birthday! Fill him up with birthday cake & ice cream so he goes to sleep early - full & happy. *winks*

First Drop of Crimson comes out next week. I bet your excited to be back in that world. I see you tweeting about Bones & Cat all the time.

Donna said...

Chris - which book is that one? I have already bought the first 4 books in the series.

Chris said...

It's #8.

Donna said...

Ah, gotcha! I actually cringe a little at how long this series. It's going to take awhile for me to catch up. Have you read all of the books or have you skipped any?

Chris said...

I'm done. No more LKH for me. :)

EH - Those two look very interesting. I'm going to keep my eye out for reviews.

Dawn - Those GC do come in handy don't they? I'm amazed you still have yours. When I get GC they run through my fingers like water. ;)
