The Lovely Bones by Alice SeboldOctober 1, 2009
Read an excerpt
From the Hachette Book Group:
Once in a generation a novel comes along that taps a vein of universal human experience, resonating with readers of all ages. THE LOVELY BONES is such a book -- a #1 bestseller celebrated at once for its artistry, for its luminous clarity of emotion, and for its astonishing power to lay claim to the hearts of millions of readers around the world.
"My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973."
So begins the story of Susie Salmon, who is adjusting to her new home in heaven, a place that is not at all what she expected, even as she is watching life on earth continue without her -- her friends trading rumors about her disappearance, her killer trying to cover his tracks, her grief-stricken family unraveling. Out of unspeakable tragedy and loss, THE LOVELY BONES succeeds, miraculously, in building a tale filled with hope, humor, suspense, even joy.
The major motion picture version of THE LOVELY BONES, directed by Peter Jackson and starring Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, and Saoirse Ronan is scheduled for release on December 11, 2009.

I loved this book - that is a pretty amazing group of actors they've got on board for the movie. What book would I want to see as a movie? Maybe Stray by Rachel Vincent.
No need to enter me, I've already got this one. Thanks!

Great giveaway!!
Hard for me to say what book I'd like to see made into a movie. Sometimes it's to see a story played out when it was so much different in my head. I thinking I might like to see Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon although it would have to be a long movie!
I'd love to see a movie made out of Maximun Ride by James Patterson
I'd love to see A Great and Terrible Beauty as a movie, because it'd either be epic (which is the outcome I'd prefer) or so horrible it'd be funny. Either way, I'd be amused.
Great giveaway. This looks great. I definitely need to read the book before I watch the movie.
I would like to see Rachel Caines Morganville Vampires made into a movie.

I'd love to see Kage Baker's The House of the Stag done as a movie adaptation. It would never work, but it would be so cool if it could be done...

I would love to read this! I usually find movies adapted from a book to be disappointing. A few I think I would like to see if they were made into movies are Turning Angel y Greg Iles, Quiet Game by Greg Iles, The Choice by Nicholas Sparks, and Gump & Co. by Winston Groom (sequel to Forest Gump!)

I'd like to see "First Comes Marriage" (the whole Huxtable series actually)by Mary Balogh made into a really good period movie, kinda like Sense & Sensibility :) ~Bella

It's hard to say, because I feel that most movies are a very poor representation of the depth of a book!
However, I would like to see a BETTER movie adaptation of The Memory Keeper's Daughter, by Kim Edwards. The only movie version now is a Lifetime movie, and it's barf-tastic.

I've always wanted to see Isobelle Carmody's Obernewtyn chronicles- or at least 'The farseekers'. I can picture some of the scenes.
But, as I love the series so much, it would probably disappoint. Sigh :)
I would love to see the Traveler by John twelve hawks turned into a movie and The devil you know by Mike Carey. Both exceptional books and would make very good movies.
I am usually disappointed by movies based on books, but there are 2 recently reads that MIGHT make fairly decent movies if handled well, The Manhattan Prophet & Estuary. Thanks!
I'd love to see a VERY well-adapted version of Rohinton Mistry's 'A Fine Balance' or MG Vassanji's 'The Book of Secrets' or 'The Inbetween World of Vikram Lal.' It would be hard to pull off though... I've never read 'The Lovely Bones' and would love to before watching the film. Please accept this as my entry. Thank you!
