Solving the Case of Donna's Online Disappearance

I've kind of fell off the blogging radar these past couple of weeks but for good reason. First of all, my husband is now going to be home in the evenings. Yay for me! I know your probably thinking "Yeah, so?" Well, in the twelve years my husband and I have been together this has never happened. He has always had work in the evenings. So needless to say, I'm enjoying something that a lot people take for granted and I'm having a blast. It's kind of like we're dating again.

The bad news, Lola, our hyper-active boxer, had surgery a week and half ago on her back hind leg, and has 12 stitches. She had a build up of bone spurs caused from repeatedly jumping straight up in the air(she looks like a kangaroo when she does this) and high speed running for long periods of time. So taking care of her requires a lot of attention, especially since she isn't allow to run and jump like she use to. Even after she heals, the vet doesn't want us to let her run and jump like she had in the past. How we are going to accomplish this, I have no clue other than taking her on long walks to help get rid of a bit of her high volume of energy.

Work has also ramped up for me but this is good...you know the whole "idle hands" thing.

I'm still reading but I just haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to my blog to talk about it. But I'm not giving up on this blog, however things are going to slow down here and I know I won't be posting as much. I'm stilling going to be hanging out at my favorite blogs, just not as much as I use to. While this makes me a bit sad, I have to admit that I'm really enjoying my evenings with the family right now. Hopefully, I'll find sometime kind balance/rhythm soon.

Oh, and I'm also thinking about taking up Kayaking. Here in the next week or so we are going to rent some kayaks and see how we like it. I live within a few blocks of a lake, so this would be a perfect sport to invest in. I'm so excited about it!!

Anything new happening with any of you? I would love to hear it!

How exciting for you that your husband will be home. For the first 10 year of my marriage, hubs workd 6 weeks nights/6 weeks days. I know what a treat it is to have him home!

Sounds like things are going well for you - have fun with the kayaking!

Donna -
I am surprised you can keep up your blog the way you do and work too. At least its nice, since a lot of women may not want their hubbies home at night after that many years.
Poor doggie.

Take care, have fun, enjoy life - we ain't goin' nowheres. :)

Awww, how sweet, like dating again. You deserved that after so many years

Kayaking is fun! Just remember to get the one with the peddles otherwise you have to learn how to steer with your paddle.

Donna! I can't believe that this is the first time in your twelve year marriage (congrats on that, btw) that you and your husband finally get to spend evenings with each other. That's awesome! Date night every night sounds like fun too. I'm jealous.

Oh poor Lola. That's going to be tough keeping her from doing what she loves to do. My parents had a dog - actually, still has the dog - that loved, I mean loved to chase the ball. It was his mission in life! But, the constant play from puppyhood straight through to eight years eventually caused him terrible back pain and the vet said "NO MORE BALL!". It was the end of the world for Bandit for a while. The little guy is really old now and he has absolutely no desire to play ball anymore but it was sad for a while there when he'd search for his beloved ball and come up empty. So, I feel your pain with Lola.

Good luck with the kayaking. I've never done it before but I know several people that really enjoy it. It's a great work out too.

HUGS, VFG

I'm glad you're still going to be around, albeit not as much. I would hate to have you vanish!!

Glad that you and your husband are getting to spend more time together! Hope Lola's doing well... and good luck keeping her calmer after she heals...

Congrats on your hubby’s new work hours! I hope your pup has a speedy recovery. Boxers have so much energy. They make me tired just watching them.

Patti - I am excited! It's been so nice to just sit with Michael in the evenings and have time to talk. I'm going to take advantage of this time while I can.

Shelli - It's been really rough lately so I decided to quit killing myself. Just everything as they come and try enjoy things more. Thank you for being here!!

B - Thanks! I'm so glad to have this time now with the 'ol hubby. ;)

KC - I can't wait until we test out Kayaking!! I'm hoping it is fun and possible be my exercise outlet. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.

VFG - Yep, first time. We actually dated for over two years before we got married. Michael has always been a workaholic so when decided to slow down and spend more time at home, I was all for it. Lola is doing pretty good but the surgery cut real yucky looking and she has limp. She's five years old and everyone I know who has had a boxer say boxer are hyper-energetic until the very end. So I know our hands will be full with her. Thanks for the kind words. {{hugs you back}}

Chris - Thanks! I don't want to vanish either. I'll just be slower at posting and not as much. I think I can live with that for now. Right now Lola been drive everyone batty with her pacing, the dog is bundle of energy, bursting at the seams. I wish I had just third of her energy. ;)

Mama Bookworm - Thank you! Ah, so you know what I mean my boxer being hyper-active. Then you how mischievous boxers can be, especially when they are couped up too long in their opinion. LOL!

I have been reading several posts that are similar to this. I don't know if it's the nicer weather, or the time of year, but it seams that a lot of people are getting busier in their everyday lives, including me. :P I say real life comes first! :) Yay! on having your husband home! That is definitely worth celebrating! I am sorry to hear about your boxer! I feel bad for pets...they just want to be happy and don't always realize what's bad for them! Enjoy the time with your fam! I still look forward to your upcoming posts and reviews!

LOVE the Scooby Doo pic, btw! :P

Hi Donna:

So delighted to hear about your husband's change in schedule so you can enjoy more time with him in the evening! That is wonderful for both of you.

Also, I do hope that Lola comes along safely following her surgery. I remember well what it was like last year after Tori had the surgery on her knee ligament. Stressful days.

Summer is here - kayaking is a wonderful sport and there is nowhere like being on the water during hot sultry days. :)

Looking forward to your posts when you are able to get back on line.

Warm Regards
L

EH - LOL! Yep! Except he doesn't know it yet but I'm going to have him watching GLEE with me on Tuesday nights. ::evil laughter::

Holly - I agree the weather does have a little to do with it. I've been itching to get outside and do something but I want it to be something new. I lurve Scooby Doo, so it's what popped into my head when I titled this post. ;)

Lea - Thanks! Your such a sweetie. :) I'm going to post reviews still, they just might be sporadic. And I appreciate your kind words for Lola. It is a bit stressful and I'm a little worried that she's going to keep limping permanently. Lola has a real sweet disposition, so I think she is coping better than other pets would have in her situation. I'm glad Tori pulled through hers. :)

I think that is awesome honey. You spend that time with hubby!!! That is what makes the heart beat!!!! And romance novels magic... hearing those words!! Hugs to honey!

We will always be here for you whenever you come peek in on us!!!

I am sorry to hear about your pup though. I have two of my own and know how you feel.

Hugs and kisses to you honey!

Donna, you go for it family comes first. Know how you feel about the being excited to spend time with your honey, we have been going through something similar but not as extreme in time length at our house. My husband got transferred in 2005 4 hours from where we live for 8 months, he is now living at home again but not full time since 2007. I hate spending time at home alone with just my pets and my Mom when he has to work 4 or 5 days away from where we live.

I really hope that your big bundle of doggy energy recuperates fully, just remember whatever happens she is happy and even limping is better than the alternative!!

Take care and we will come see what you post when you get it out there as little or as much as you can handle comfortably!!!

Hi, Donna, if you figure out a way to streamline blogging, for god's sake, please tell me!

I think it becomes more time-consuming because it's got to be networked with other sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc. It should be done for fun and not as a chore.

Best wishes for your bowser's recovery!

I truly understand your excitement to have your husband home in the evenings. My husband as well is one to have to work the 2nd/3rd shift thing. So we really don't see each other through the week. Hence, I spend my time reading and blogging. :) Keeps me out of trouble. He had a shift change this year where he is off on Wednesdays, so my blogging on Wednesdays has been cut short. But it is for a good reason.

I do hope your dog is doing well.

And I say go for the kayaking! I always thought it sounded fun and exciting. I would love to give it a shot myself. Have fun with it.

Look forward to still seeing you around. :)

Hey Donna,

I have my fingers crossed that Lola gets better and better! And, yay, for your man being home in the evenings. I know what it's like to have them gone (mine is gone about 25 weeks out of the year). Enjoy it! ;-)

Cecile - I couldn't say it any better!! Thanks! Lola is on the mend and as long as we can keep her busy, everything will be okay. :)

Jackie - That's tough! I can certainly sympathize and do plan on taking advantage of my current situation because who knows long it will last.

Marta - I will, promise! The online life is very time-consuming and I think sometimes we forget to step away and involve ourselves in the real thing sometimes. Plus that is okay to take a break. It actually took me awhile to realize this. Thank you!

Melissa - I absolutely understand your wanting to cut back on the days your hubby is home. I'm sure after the novelty of my husband being around wears off some, I'll be back to blogging more.

Kelly - Thank you! And she is getting better. Yesterday she went on a mad chase around the house with our new kitten. Lola ended up with a scrap and the Fred wasn't fazed at all. ;) 25 weeks, that's nearly half the year! I do understand that also, in a way. My dad was in the Army and went on a couple of hardship tours. We didn't see him for a year or so at time. It was hard on my brother and I.

My husband worked second and third shift for years, then he finally got on first shift, but 12 hour days, which was much better. Now he got a promotion and works days, then some nights til 10 or 11 pm. Very odd. It's weird isn't it? Changing after so long and getting used to another schedule. Wow, keeping a boxer from running-- that will be hard!

Poor hubby doesn't know what he's in for! You're actually going to make him watch Glee? Poor guy! *shudder* ;)

Let us know how the kayaking turns out! I've never tried it, but it looks like fun!

Hugs to Lola! And good luck with the no-more-jumping project! Never could keep my pups from jumping...

Hi Donna, I'm very good at the online disappearance act thing, so I totally understand... and all your reasons for slowing down with the blogging and blog hopping are good ones (except maybe for your boxer's surgery, but spending extra time walking with her sounds great...). Have fun with your husband and let us know about the kayaking! Sounds fantastic.

Hi Donna!

I couldn't blog if it wasn't possible for me to do it during the days, my husband's home in the evening and at least expects to see me, lol. It has really helped fill in some of the daytime when there's no one here but me. But, it's also my reading and writing time, so I've been blogging less to read/write more. I found all I was doing was blogging. So I know I haven't been around much either.

It's nice that you and your husband have together time in the evenings. And kayaking sounds like fun, another together time.

Hope Lola starts feeling better, hyper kinetic dogs are the best kind, she sounds like a sweetie.

Have fun!

((hugs))

Dottie :)
