Feeding the Need to Read (3)

Starting out the year right!

I had been good for so long, practicing restraint on buying books. Only buying a couple of books every month. Well, this week and last week I kinda went on a book binge. Some of the books were new releases I just had to have. Others were books on sale at such a good price, that I just couldn't pass them up. Then there were the ones that popped up on my wish list at Paperbackswap.com. To say my bookshelves are overflowing and overstuffed, would be an understatement right now. But everytime a package of books showed up at the door, I got that feeling of book euphoria - yeah, you know what I'm talking about!

Here's what I received/bought the last two weeks - seriously some of these were bargains so I linked them to where I bought the books. You know, just in case you wanted get a few of these for yourself.

Pearl - I'm excited about reading Naked Dragon. :)

Chris - I know! Thankfully I don't go on these book binges often - maybe four times a year. *grins*

Wow so many great books there!

I know that amazing feeling...when you receive/buy a book. This is one of the few things that really get me all excited. I also have MANY books waiting to be read on my shelves, but i just can't resist the temptation of ordering the new shiny ones being released every week.
I see you bought Adrian Phoenix's Beneath the Skin. I read the first book in her trilogy and really enjoyed the story and characters, but i had a hard time with the many POVs. I was just sort of waiting to read book 2 and 3 in a row. I hope you get to read it soon and tell us all about it, i'm really curious about what you think of it.

Oh, you have a few there I'll be interested in reading your thoughts on. Most especially The Battle Sylph! I've got that series on my list. And I see The Lightning Thief. I hope you like it :).

I've been meaning to tell you also, I'm only one box set away from having the first 13 books in the Legend of Drizzt books! My borders had the second two sets. I waited til the third set got marked down to 50% off. Now I'm waiting to see how low Fantasy goes before I buy the last set. I keep it behind the counter, waiting. I'm sure it'll go to 60% soon.

pattepoilue - Yes! We totally get each other on books. :) I haven't read the first two books by Adrian Phoenix but since I already had them and everyone gives good kudos to them - I went ahead and bought the third. Will read this series this year. Must!

KC - I'm starting Ecstasy Unveiled tonight. I can't wait to dig into Lore's story. :)

Carol - Thanks! I'm glad my hubby doesn't read my blog or I might be in some big trouble.

Amy - I really wanted to read The Lightning Thief before the movie but I wasn't sure if I would like it. Your review convinced me. :) I was lucky on the Drizzt books, my son already had the first four omnibuses plus several others after those. I'm so glad you are able to find them at good prices, makes it all good especially since there are so many in this series.

Blodeuedd - Thanks! I think I'll slow down for awhile. Need to get some reading done now. ;)

EH - Battle Sylph looks so interesting and different, I'm looking forward to reading it.

Donna, You got some great books there. I finally got to go book shopping yesterday. I'll have my post up later tonight. Hope you enjoy Firespell and Prey. Those are two I really enjoyed.

Donna said...

Anna - I'm hoping to start Firespell this weekend, pretty excited about it. I really like Chloe Neill's writing style. I'll be by to check out your new reads, you also have some good ones.

This was my first time reading Chloe Neill, she does have a great writing voice. I have the first book in the Chicagoland Vampires series and I want to get to it soon.

Donna said...

Anna - The Chicagoland Vampires series is one of my favorites. Your in for some very good reading when you get Some Girls Bite. Enjoy!

Great haul - I think I love nearly all of them! Don't you just feel great after a book buying pig-out!! Enjoy your books! :)

Hi Donna!

I just picked up Firespell after she your post earlier today. I didn't even know it was out yet. I went to pick up Legacy of Stone (Vickie Taylor's 3rd book), but couldn't find it.

That's quite a nice haul you've made though, I have several of those on my need to buy list (couldn't buy more than one tonight, the hubs was with me, and gave me the stink eye for adding to the books currently residing in the house). I don't gripe about his CD's, he shouldn't gripe about my book, don't ya think?

Oh, I want to start Rachel Caine!!

I'm the same way! Have so many books in my TBR piles that I really shouldn't be buying any new ones, but I sometimes I just can't resist! Think book euphoria is the perfect description of how I feel when books arrive in the mail. Enjoy all of your bright, shiny new babies! :)

Book Chick City - Yes, I love the feeling after a book buying pig-out <-- like that term!

Dottie - I can't wait to read Firespell. I'm hoping it's similar to Ms. Neill's writing in the Chicagoland Vampires series. When my hubby makes any remarks about my books I give him a look that says "Just say one more word, buddy! Let's see where that'll get you later..." He gets quiet and doesn't say another word. ;)

Mandi - I do too. So when I had seen this omnibus figured it would be a good start.

Alexia - I get that book buying guilty feeling too because of the books in the TBR but it only lasts for a second or two. ;)

You'll love Firespell, I've got a review to post on that one as soon as the kids go back to school (off because of cold temps) and I can have the computer for more than 10 minutes at a time!

Also the Morganville Vamp series by Caine, is a must read. I'm swooning over all those books! I' SO jealous!

Donna said...

Charity - I'm looking forward to Firespell. You and most everyone who has reviewed it has a lot of good things to say about it.

I've been wanting to try the Morganville Vampire series for a good while plus I love omnibuses. Just something about having several books in one that makes me very happy. I hope I enjoy them as much as you and others have. :)

Those all look like good reads! I've found that book buying restraints only work up till a point-then the monster takes over!

Wow! Some excellent choices =) I'm so happy to see Marjorie M. Liu up there - she's one of my favorite authors and I really think you'll enjoy her Dirk & Steele series.

Also Crimson City by Liz Maverick is good. I enjoyed the series while it lasted =)
