Mega Giveaway List of Books & More 07/15/09

I've been trying to think of a better, more efficient way of communicating the giveaways/contests across the web, this is what I have come up with. Since, I keep a list of the giveaways/contests that I run across on my blog's sidebar, once a week I'm thinking of copying what I have there into a blog post. Today's post is an example. The list is an ongoing list, I don't remove the contest from my list until it closes.

Why do I even keep a list? One reason, among a few, I like to pass the word out to others, because who knows a reader might find a new author because of a book won or a contest entered. I know that's how I've discovered some of my new reads, whether I won the contest or not.

Also as a side note, I'm happy to add anyone's fantasy/horror/paranormal romance/urban fantasy/YA book related contest here, just email me the details.

So, what do you think? Good idea or bad idea? Should I post the list more than once a week? Any input is appreciated.

I think it looks good and copying the sidebar over seems like an incredibly useful way to do it. It brings more attention to long-running contests that might have fallen off people's radars too.

I'm also really grateful you're including the information on who the contest is open to (at least where available) because that's the first thing I skim for after the title. ^-^ I'm too used to getting excited over a book giveaway only to find out that I'm not eligible.

Holy crap, what a list Donna!! I look at my contest links and fall short compared to this. Kudos for doing this :D

@Shanra - Thanks for the input, I appreciate it very much. I try to put where the contest is available when it is listed. I always assume when they don't list where it's available it's open to everyone. Right? ;)

@Leontine - LOL! This summer seems to be full of contests. I'm not sure if this is a normally occurring thing though. I've only been blogging since January of this series. Contests are a great way to find a new author I think.

Wow, thank you for all your work Donna!

That is amazing, I couldn't possibly keep up with all of those. You are indeed kind.

Elisabeth Naughton announced her contest today too. The widget is at my blog.

Best to you
