SF/F Links of Interest & Giveaways 7/1/09

My giveaway for a copy of Mark of the Demon by Diana Rowland ends tomorrow night at 10 PM CST. If you haven't entered hurry over and tell me what interests you the most about the book. Click here to enter.

The past couple of weeks have been busy ones in the blogosphere. Lots information to share, so have at it!

Author News:

  • Kelley Armstrong has sent out her Summer '09 Newsletter. It's full of interesting tidbits such as release dates, pre-orders, contest info and much more.
  • Barb Hendee posted that the books Dhamphir and Thief of Lives will be available for the Kindle on July 7th and she is assuming that the electronic version for other eReaders will be close behind. If you haven't read the Noble Dead Saga by Barb and J.C. Hendee, you are missing out on a great high, dark fantasy. I can't recommend this series enough.
  • Anya Bast has posted the cover for Wicked Enchantment, which will be out in January 2010. Cover art was done by Tony Mauro. Very nice!
  • Rachel Vincent has posted her covers on the UK versions of Rogue and Pride. There are subtle differences, can you spot them?
  • Yasmine Galenorn has post the Bone Magic video on her blog. Check it out!
  • Lilith Saintcrow announced that Night Shift (Book 1, Jill Kismet series) is now part the Hachette Book's Open Book program. A free read! This is a good way to start a series.
  • S.J. Day announced Eve of Darkness is now available in eBook format at Sony eBook Store.
Interesting Tidbits:
  • Suvudu Free Book Library will have Darkfever (Book 1, Fever Series) by Karen Marie Moning available as a free download from July 1 through October 1, 2009. If you haven't start the Fever Series and you have been wanting to, this is a good opportunity to do so.
  • Drop of Crimson has release their 6/30/09 issue online. Lots of interesting reviews and interviews. One review was done by fellow blogger, Lexie of Poisoned Rationality, on the Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine.
  • ONLY THE BEST SCI-FI/FANTASY has a post up on the FTC wanting to regulate bloggers, as bloggers you'll probably want to check this post out and see how it might effect you, if the guidelines are passed later this summer: News: FTC to Regulate Bloggers!?
  • J. Kaye's Book Blog posted No More Negative Reviews, interesting post. I agree with her 100% on her reasoning, mainly too little time and too many good books to read to waste it on the ones that don't interest you.
  • i09 has a fun post titled 10 Best Robot Crotch Shots (And One Boob Shot) [Triviagasm]. I think the title says it all *grin*.
  • Amber over at Amberkatze's Book Blog posted the new title to the Jeri Smith-Ready's third WVMP book will be Bring on the Night.
  • The Discriminating Fangirl has a post up about helping the Paranormal Romance group on GoodReads compiling a list of heroes/heroines/protagonists in paranormal romance and urban fantasy series. If you would like to help contribute, head over to TDF's post for info on how.
  • Follow the Reader has an interesting post: Do Twitter and Blogs Really Drive Book Sales? - I think they do. Myself as a case study, since joining the book blogosphere and Twitter, have purchased more books based on blogs and Twitter recommendations than anytime before joining.
  • Dark Wolf's Fantasy Review has an interview and showcase on the artist Bente Schlick. If you love fantasy art, check Ms. Schlick's artwork, it's gorgeous.
