Books to Movies: Darkfever and Wicked Lovely

Two books that are based on Fae/Faeries are being optioned or being adapted into movies, Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning and Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. Even though I'm a big vamp fan, this a variation from the current entertainment trend in vampire TV/movies I'm looking forward to.

Melissa Marr announced on her blog that Wicked Lovely is being adapted into a movie by scribe Caroline Thompson (Edward Scissorhands). Variety has the full story an the movie deal.

DarkfeverTonight while I was browsing through Karen Marie Moning's messageboard I came across an announcement made by Karen that Twentieth Century Fox/New Regency Productions is optioning the Fever Series. Which means they are looking into the series as a possible movie deal. The New York Times has a small mention of it here. I really hope this deal goes through because this is a movie I would love to see.

I already have anxiety over seeing Barrons on the big screen. In a weird way I wish it wouldn't happen. Just leave it as a book.

Cool, I hope they do a good job with her books.
But Moning, I hope so :)

Haven't read Wicked Lovely yet; sometimes seeing the movie gets me to read the book.
I'm not sure how I'd feel about a Fever movie.

Yes!
Two great books that deserve to be made into movies.
Let's hope that's a trend Hollywood latches onto rather than TV shows into movies, toys into movies or great movies into poor remakes.
:)
Thank you for sharing!
You've made my day!
All the best,

Mandi - I know what you mean by that but I'm excited about the prospect of a Darkfever movie. Maybe I'll change my mind after the fifth book, who knows? Or I feel this way because I want more from the Fever world right now. ;)

Blodeuedd - Same here, you can only hope when it comes to book to movie remakes.

Patti - My first reaction was excitement about a movie. I haven't read Wicked Lovely either, I've had it on my bookshelves for awhile but I'll read it before the movie comes out, definitely.

RKCharron - I couldn't agree more with you! Hollywood need fresh contest.

I'd love to see KMM series as movies but how.....each book doesn't really END!

I could totally see it as a TV show but not a movie. Of course I'll watch it and probably love it but I'd love it more as a series. The endings in the books blow so good for TV series.

Disappointed. :(

I think Darkfever would be an amazing movie! There's so many things that will translate great on screen. If they make one movie they better make them all. When the walls come down would be awesome to see.

Gasp, finally making Fae series into a movie?!!!! Please if there is a God, it won't be the horrible adaptation that was/is known as Time Travler's Wife *shudder* I was campaigning for HBO Mini series, but the big screen is just as swell. Maybe the "Studios" can use my Gerald Butler suggestion for Barrons..

Gerald Butler? I love the man but as Barrons? Not sure I like that. :(

Jessica - That's a good thought, a TV series! I'd watch TV for this.

Lori - Same here!!

FG - I haven't read Wicked Lovely but it's sitting on my shelves. I will soon though, especially since there is a movie coming out.

KC - I didn't read the book or watch the movie for Time Traveler's Wife but I sure hope if a movie is made of Darkfever it's not a flop!

Jessica - I'm not sure who I would pick for Barrons but I agree I don't think it would be hottie Gerald Bulter...hhmmm need to think of that.

Dottie - Um-Hm, Barrons is tasty!!!

Great the books are sooooooo good I can't wait........... a movie will be great... but with 5 books.. maybe a series..... I just don;t want them to leave anything out......... if they make the way the books are written.exactly the same way......... will be great!!!!!!!!

Anonymous - Yeah, I think a TV series would be better. Just think an hour a week for each season versus just 2.5 hours for a movie. We would definitely come out better with the TV series angle. :)
